Welcome to Maryhill High Media Arts College Media Department.

The school became a specialist Media Arts College in September 2004. Specialist media equipment and technical support is available to all subject areas, including DTP, video and audio. There is a school radio and TV station.

Courses

Currently Media Studies is offered at:-
KS3
There is one lesson per fortnight for each year group. At KS4 there are six lessons per fortnight as an option. Year 12/13 have ten lessons per fortnight, all lessons are all one hour.
KS 4
GCSE Media, GCSE Film Studies and OCR Nationals level 2 in Media are taught in Y10 and Y11 as an option.
KS5
AS Film Studies, AS and A2 Media Studies and OCR National level 3 in Media.

As a Media Arts Specialist School we will be introducing the level 2 creative and media diploma in collaboration with neighbouring schools and colleges.


Teaching areas

There are two Media teaching rooms located in the main block of the school on the same floor. One room has an interactive whiteboard. There is also a radio studio within the department and departmental office in a newly built block of the school.


Data

In recent years the Media Department has developed a reputation for achievement. In 2008 GSCE students achieved 70% A* – C grades while our A/S and A2 results also reflect continued progress in the subject area. In 2008 our students achieved 100% A – D grades at both A/S and A2, with 80% achieving B at A Level. 100 % achieved their target grade or better at A2.
