
Welcome to Maryhill High Media Arts College Technology Department.
Design and Technology is taught in years 7,8 and 9 and is planned to enable all students to experience all areas of the subject including electronics.
The types of projects planned for September 2009 are:
Year 7 – Sandwiches
Clock design
Electronic Dice
Year 8 – Robots
Hand held maze
DVD display stand
Pastry - quiche
Year 9 - MP3 player speakers
Cabinet design
Catapults
Apple strudel
In Year 10 the students have a choice of a wide range of disciplines including Food, Graphics, Resistant materials and Child Development.
The department is well resource with CAD –CAM facilities with a suite of computers and 91% of the pupils enjoy the practical element of Technology.
The technology department is a flourishing, high achieving department and the staff regularly give up their time to run lunch / after school clubs and competitions.
It is an exciting time for the technology department with many new and exciting plans for 2009/2010. We are hoping to become involved in the F1 for schools project and we are building many links with local industries.
