I’m married, with two grown-up married sons and a grandson. I was a teacher for 33 years, the last 31 of which were spent at Maryhill High.

Born in Stoke-on-Trent, I was educated at Stanfields High and then at the Sixth Form College. After 3 years studying Theology at Nottingham University, I came home to complete my Post Graduate Teaching Certificate at Madeley.

Most of my time is taken up with my family but The Potter’s House Church in Bircheshead also features highly in my activities, including worship on Sunday, fellowship groups and a whole host of other activities. I am a Season Ticket holder at Stoke City and spend lots of time at the gym trying to keep fit.

My main reason for being a Governor at Maryhill is the desire to continue to be involved. For many years I was able to contribute in my capacity as a member of staff. Following my retirement, becoming a Governor was a different way of continuing that involvement.

Being able to support young people in their education is, perhaps, the most rewarding aspect of being a Governor.
