My name is Katie Minton and decided to volunteer to be a school governor as I had been involved in working with a variety of schools in the form of mentoring, financial education initiatives and young enterprise and felt I could offer lots of ideas and bring many skills to the governor role. By being a governor I am excited about the opportunity to make a real difference and being able to make valuable contributions to help promote and develop Maryhill High School further.
In terms of my own education I went to Edenhurst Preparatory School based in Newcastle and then moved onto St Dominic’s Priory School in Stone for secondary school and sixth form. I enjoyed most subjects at school but particularly enjoyed geography. After completing my A Levels I went to the University of Manchester and studied for a BA (Honours) in Geography and following this I completed a Masters degree in Human Resource Management at Manchester Business School. Since graduating from University I have held a number of positions within Financial Services and I currently work within Management Consultancy.
