Welcome to Maryhill High Media Arts College International Schools Award page.

Maryhill High Media Arts College has successfully addressed the criteria for the Intermediate: Developing Internationalism International School Award.

Maryhill is presently in the process of applying for the Full International School Award which is described below.

2010 Full ISA

Application for the Full ISA is a two stage process. The initial stage is an online application, also referred to as the action plan. In this plan Maryhill will be required to submit a minimum of 7 proposed activities for the academic year 2009/10 (for accreditation in August 2010). These activities must, overall, involve a majority of curriculum subjects, have an impact on the majority of pupils, and demonstrate some collaborative curriculum-based international work with international partner schools. These activities must occur in the 2009-10 year. At this point Maryhill will begin to collate work for the second stage, the submission of a portfolio of evidence which is due in at the end of the school year. If successful, Maryhill would then be accredited with the Full International School Award 2010-2013.

The first major link has been with the Modern foregn Languages department and Lycee Professional de St Pierre school in France.

There will be more links and projects to follow in the near future.

As part of the new International School Award the Modern Foreign Languages department has teamed up with an overseas link school. Here is a little bit about our partner school.

Lycee Professional de St Pierre is a school that caters for students 15yrs + and follows mostly vocational courses. Overseas links are very important to them and they also have other projects and exchanges with schools in Ireland and Germany which are mentioned on their website, http://lp-stpierre.ac-reunion.fr.
The activities so far have been limited to email exchange, but there are more projects to come such as a video-conferencing activity which will hopefully be set up in the near future.
